i've been breastfeeding my 2 week old son and i cannot stand it anymore. My nipples are soooo sore and cracked that i cry everytime i breastfeed. I read some good comments about the Lansinoh cream and i was wondering, will it really work? I really want to continue breastfeeding and i've talked to a breastfeeding consultant and she said my son's latched properly now but before he wasn't that's how i got sore and cracked nipples. Will the Lansinoh nipples cream work for sore and cracked nipples from breastfeeding?
Yes definately, I see someone said to use a lot of it but a lactation consultant told me once that 'more is Not better' when using lanolin and to use sparingly. I would also tell you to really watch your baby's latch...I had a consultant tell me that my latch was fine, finally after 4 weeks of pain I went to another consultant and I did have bad latch. THe baby was taking too much of the top of the nipple and instead of coming under it.
It will take time and lots of patience but keep at it...once you get past the first month it will become super easy!! Try to find bfeeding support groups in your area and visit websites like kellymom.com for support. Good luckWill the Lansinoh nipples cream work for sore and cracked nipples from breastfeeding?
that's what it's for- if your son is latched properly now then they should be healing soon- within the next few days it should become much better. also try different positions and re-latching if it starts to hurt
good luck, it's just a hurdle you need to get over and it will get better
it works well if you've got the latch done right now. it also work well for your baby's lips if they are dry, it works for chapped skin and even your lips
the woman below me is suggesting nipple sheilds. do NOT get them. you want to teach you baby to latch correctly and nipple sheilds do not do that, they can also decrease your supply since baby is not putting direct pressure on your milk ducts
i'll tell you something i wish someone had told me when i was nursing my first - if you get past the first 4 weeks, you can nurse for the first year if you choose to. i got discouraged with my first baby and quit. but with my second i was determined to nurse her. i was just like you, crying every time she nursed and finally my husband was in the aisle at babies r us on the phone with me. (i was trying to tell him to buy me that cream!) and he spotted these little ';nipple covers'; that i think are made for women who want to nurse and have inverted nipples or something. he read the back and it said something about ';also helps with babies who arent latching on properly, or protects sore cracked nipples so they can heal.'; so my husband bought like 2 packs of them. (they're made of the same thing as a bottle nipple, and washable) i would put it on while i was nursing and it forced my baby to open her mouth even bigger and i felt no pain! i stopped using them once my nipples were healed and not cracked anymore. but then brought them back out again when baby was cutting teeth, ouch! they were a godsend! and i'm due again in july and those nipple covers are on my shopping list. i hope you can find them! they worked great for me! good luck!
I tried it when I was breastfeeding and pumping, but a suggestion my Lactation Spec. told me was to try regular olvie oil. IT WORKED WONDERS!! You just use a q-tip, soak it in the oil and rub it over your nipples. It left them so much more softer so the cracking never hurt anymore. Plus, it's totally safe for your baby to latch right on to you, except he may have trouble if there's too much on you (slippery). I know you asked about Lansinoh, but I Hope this helps!
YES Most Definitely! You need to purchase the Lansinoh Lanolin for Breast Feeding Mothers cream. The Lanolin is truly a miracle cream. They will still hurt for a little but keep putting the cream on (and really slab alot on) after every feeding and by the end of the day you will feel so much better. By the next day the cracking will be on its way to healing.
The first 2-3 weeks are the hardest so hang in there. Once you get past this period it is cake!
Yes it will it works i used it religiously even put some on before my shower to protect them from the water hitting them which was very painful, but while using lansinoh i seen an improvement that is when i i was breastfeeding.
Yes it worked for me, I also used a nipple sheild because the cracking, peeling and bleeding killed me, once everything cleared up I stopped using it and all was well!
Now I use the leftover cream for chapstick LOL
Lansinoh is good stuff! You'll feel relief right away.
It also works great for chapped lips, severe dry skin and eczema by the way. =)
The Lansinoh cream is wonderful. It keeps your baby's lips from getting chapped, too if you don't wipe it off before you feed him!
i loved it, it worked everytime that i used it
Yes! It does work. It can be a little messy (it's kind of sticky) but it is definitely worth it.
It hasn't helped me and my 3 week old much yet.
