What is a good way to cure a yeast infection? Is there an over-the counter pill instead of the cream?

I don't have insurance, but I know that I have a yeast infection. What is a good way to cure a yeast infection? Is there an over-the counter pill instead of the cream?
Yogurt with live cultures like bifidus and acidopholous etc is good (no sugar in it ). I have used probiotics from health food store (in refrigeration section) and they are good. Avoid sitting in damp clothes like swim suits or exercise clothes too.

there is no over the counter pill, but all the creams are now over the counter. the creams work well but they are powerful fungicides. the best thing to do is do the 7 day cream treatment. if you do the 1 or 3 day cream treatments, they may not be as effective and they are also a higher dose of anti-fungal at one time (better to spread out exposure to these chemicals).

also there are many different fungicides available such as clortrimazole and miconazole. i happen to think that miconazole is more effective, but i am allergic to it (skin swells and breaks) so i must use clortrimazole. if you have a bad reaction, you probably need to get a different chemical and you can read this on the box.

i have also tried natural remedies such as applying tea tree oil to the affected area, applying yogurt to the affected area as well as eating lots of yogurt. i have also tried using a garlic clove as a suppository.

none of the natural remedies have worked so far and it is probably due to my impatience (these remedies may take weeks).

i have also heard that taking probiotics cure and prevent yeast infections. i have been told that you have to buy a 'good' probiotic and also find the right dosage for your problem, however i have never tried probiotics.
home remedy that works like a charm:

natural plain yoghurt with live cultures, eat that first thing in the morning and you'll never have a yeast infection again ever! put it on top of your muesli or make a fruit smoothie or just on its own. Also to treat a yeast infection directly at its source use a tampon dipped in natural yoghurt and make sure it has live cultures and place it into your passage. repeat two to three times daily for about three days or until the infection clears.....simple home remedy that works without fail.

cranberry juice is used more for urinary tract infections because it keeps the urine sterile but it doesnt harm you and is an excellent ource of vitamin c which is an immune system booster so it will help your body fight off the infection too.
Use yogurt! I know that it sounds weird but the cultures in the yogurt will eat away at the yeast and restore a normal balance of it down there, and it will relieve itching and restore ph as well. Just make sure it is PLAIN yogurt. no sugar or flavoring or you will make it worse. And then just apply it with clean hands on the outside and slightly in.

You can buy the monistat pills as well, they aren't too expensive, but everyone I know who has tried it swears by the yogurt trick, since its cheap and takes care of the infection in a day or two.

I hope you feel better hun!
Besides using plain yogurt, use a probiotic such as Latero flora. The quality of supplements is very important when treating yourself, if you intend to buy your supplements from lets walmart then save your money and go the doctor. buying from discount stores is a waste of time and money.
monostate, works and for the itching, they have medicated feminine wipes, i forgot what its called but its in that section for itching. it works really good. i had yeast infection and that was when i was pregnant, which is very common for pregnant women.
You can get a tablet but it is only for reoccurring sufferers who have tried everything else as it kills good bacteria in other parts of your body as well. Try the yogurt suggestion...sounds good. Or the creams and pessaries, they go direct to the site. Good luck
8 glasses a day of cranberry juice
