What is the substitute for ';cream of tartar'; when required in a recipe?

Cream of Tartar: 3 teaspoons of lemon juice or 3 teaspoons of vinegar equals 1 teaspoon of cream of tartar.

Depends what you're using it for. I've only used it to when whipping egg whites for meringues and a sprinkle of cornstarch does the trick too.
