You need a mixer to cream together the butter and sugar until the sugar granules have dissolved leaving the mixture looking creamy.
Blend together all moist ingredients-water milk oil eggs extracts juices ETC.
It means to use an electric hand mixer to blend ingredients together. Usually its for the butter, sugar, and vanilla.
