Any ideas for a sweets (ice cream, candy, desserts etc.) inspired birthday party?

I'm having a birthday party for My 7 and 8 year old nieces. They want a sweets inspired party. Does anybody have any ideas, or know anywhere that I can buy sweets inspired decorations etc.?Any ideas for a sweets (ice cream, candy, desserts etc.) inspired birthday party?
Oriental Traders sells loads of the sweet decorations.

You might want to have a ';Make your own sundae'; party. Have several flavors of Ice Cream and all sorts of toppings for the girls/boys to put on. Have whipped cream available and most definitely large bowls.

You can used crushed oreos, sprinkles, nuts, cherries, M%26amp;M (minis) and anything else you can think of for the toppings.

Make up treat bags, but I would limit the amount of sweets. Some parents may object. You could put in gift certificates to McDonalds, Burger King. I know that they use to have booklets you could purchase.

If you know of someone that would like to come in and give the girls a manicure/pedicure, that would be fun. Or have someone paint faces. Girls love that! Or how about playing dress up. Go to a second hand shop and buy some inexpensive clothing and hats and have them dress up.

Hope this helps.Any ideas for a sweets (ice cream, candy, desserts etc.) inspired birthday party?
You could have the children decorate the cake with a variety of candy you have on the tables. You could also have an ice cream bar with every kind of candy you can think of . Ice cream bars are getting popular. You can also do candy games, get a pinata, pin the necklace on the princess using candy necklaces. Do treat bags. All you really need to do is go to a candy store and go wild.

Decorate in bright colors, like bright pinks and blues, etc.

For the napkin rings, get those candies that are rings, they look like a diamond ring and the kids wear them on their finger and suck on them, put them around the napkins. You can get them in little packages at the grocery store or dollar store. You can also just tie licorce strands around the napkins too. You can also use those button candies that come on the white paper. You can wrap them around the napkins and then staple them to hold them in place. They're the ones that are little circles on the white sheet of paper and you have to bite them off with your teeth.

For centerpieces, get some clear vases and fill them with skittles, they follow the bright colored theme and then instead of flowers, get those huge lollipops and have them coming out of the vases. Get about 3 per vase and then the kids can take them home as a favor after the party.

You can also give each child a candy necklace and bracelet to wear, have it at their place setting, on top of their plates so they can put it on when they get there.

You can also go to the m%26amp;m's website and get personalized m%26amp;m's in your niece's name which would amaze them to see them in their name! You can pick the colors and what you want them to say. You can have their names and Happy Birthday put on them and hand them out as favors, or just give them to your nieces after the party or just make them a decoration in the party.

You can also get some gumball machines and fill them up with m%26amp;m's, skittles, and gumballs and have them all around the party. There's even ones that you hang on the wall. Just make sure to have little containers with pennies so their guests can get the candy out of them! You can get the gumball machines very inexpensively these days, go to Target, Walmart, Toys R' Us, even check the dollar store, everyone seems to carry them. You can even get the ones that are candy specific, like the m%26amp;m dispenser and put m%26amp;m's in it, jelly belly dispenser and put the jelly belly's in it, etc.

For the cake, if you really want to wow them, make a 3 tiered cake and decorate it with pink icing and accent it in white. Then put some candy around the edges. You can have the girls decorate it too.

If you get foodnetwork, Barefoot Contessa has a show on today at 5pm est.time about a kids picnic party and she decorates and does a candy party. If you can, watch it, she really does it up! It's a great episode!!!

You can also serve pink lemonade, which is just regular lemonade with grenadine added, you can get that at any grocery store in the soda aisle where the mixers are. It's NOT alcoholic and you just add as much as you want, it's very sweet and stir. It makes regular lemonade pink, but for a sweets party, it's a must! LOL

You can also get cotton candy, popcorn, etc!

Set up an ice cream bar. Get chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry ice cream and some toppings. Sprinkles, chocolate syrup, whipped cream, and cherries and have the girls make their own sundaes. You can get the tall plastic sundae glasses at the dollar store or the waffle cone bowls at the grocery store.

You can also decorate with the white paper lanterns. Not the ones that light up, just the ones that are round and white. It will look cool to have them hanging around the party.

Then you can have clusters of balloons in the colors of the party. You can do pink and white, and then pink and white streamers, then if the girls want other colors, it's their party, go for it! I would stick to the bright fun colors though!

For games, there's SO much you can do too.

Relay races, potato sack races, three legged races, wheel barrel races, etc.

You can have a pie eating contest, but instead of pie, fill the tins with whipped cream and whoever finishes first, wins!

A Pinata, being it's a sweets party, you can go to any party store and get one in either your theme which I'm sure they'll have, or just one the girls like. Then in the same aisle, they have the big bags of pinata filler which are big bags of toys and candy. They can also add their own favorites too. I used to get 2 bags of the filler and extras. LOL

You can get a big ball, like you would buy at the store to play with and wrap it in cellophane to make it look like a big piece of hard candy. Just make sure to tie the ends so it flares out like the candy!

You can also get some cotton and fill at the fabric store and spray paint it pink to look like cotton candy and have that around the party.

You can walk around any hardware store and see if you can find something that is round that you can make into a spiral for lollipops, if not, go to the floral dept. of the crafts store and get one of the wreath frames that's round and work with them and keep adding them on top of each other and into each other until you have a round lollipop and then spray paint it the color you want. You can use anything as the stick, that's the easy part!

I would use actual candy as much as you can, you can also go to Dylanscandybar.com they have awesome varieties of candy and things that you can get to decorate and give out. You may find some things there. You can also do an online search for candy decorations, I'm sure you'll get a ton of websites.

I hope some of these ideas help and that your nieces' have a great party and a very Happy Birthday!
